Project Overview
Transformed a finished basement into a dedicated home theatre, and extended a multi-zone audio system throughout the rest of the house — all controllable from a single app on any device.
The Challenge
The client had a large, unfinished basement that they wanted to turn into a proper theatre space, and they were tired of dealing with separate Bluetooth speakers on each floor with no unified control. The goal: one system, every room, controlled simply.
What Was Installed
Home Theatre Room
- 4K laser projector with 130” acoustically transparent screen
- 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound (Denon AV receiver + ceiling-mounted Atmos speakers)
- Acoustic wall panels and bass traps for tuned room sound
- Dedicated 20A circuit for the theatre equipment
- Hidden cable management — no exposed runs anywhere
- Motorized blackout blinds integrated with the system
Whole-Home Audio
- 6-zone amplifier covering: kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, two upstairs bedrooms, and back deck
- In-ceiling speakers in each interior zone, weatherproof speakers on the deck
- Streaming via Sonos ecosystem — Spotify, Apple Music, AirPlay 2, and local library
Unified Control
- Single app controls both theatre and whole-home audio
- Scene presets: “Movie Night” dims lights, drops projector screen, sets audio to theatre; “Party Mode” pushes music to all zones
- Voice control integrated with existing Google Home setup
Results
- Full installation completed in 4 days
- Client rated the theatre acoustics better than a commercial cinema
